AAA Wants All Drivers and Pedestrians to Be Smart, Be Safe, and Be Seen

MINNEAPOLIS (October 18, 2017) – Children are four times more likely to be struck by a motor vehicle on Halloween than any other day of the year.  This is especially alarming considering more than 40 million children between the ages of 5 and 14 trick-or-treated in the United States in 2015.

The increase in child pedestrian traffic during Halloween is the driving force behind AAA Minneapolis’ Halloween safety campaign.  In an effort to help keep trick-or-treaters safe, AAA Minneapolis will be giving out free safety kits to parents and kids at all AAA Minneapolis locations from Monday, October 23rd through Tuesday, October 31st!

“We want drivers to slow down, drive sober, and watch for children in the street,” said Mike Torkelson, Licensed Driving Instructor for AAA Minneapolis.  “And a few tips for parents:  plan a route ahead of time, check your children’s costumes, and buckle up.”

The kits contain: Halloween education materials, candy, and one light-up bracelet.
